What Is CBD?
CBD is the abbreviation for cannabidiol, which is a compound derived from hemp plants. CBD is found in marijuana, but the type we use comes only from high-CBD, low-THC hemp plants. This type of CBD contains only trace amounts of THC and is non-psychoactive, meaning it will not create the “high” associated with marijuana or THC-based products.
CBD has been shown to have many benefits for humans. For instance, there is evidence to show that CBD can lessen the severity of epilepsy. Many people find that using CBD products reduces anxiety and stress as well as depression. It also can be used for pain relief, and many people with arthritis have found that using CBD has greatly reduced their inflammation and discomfort.
When it comes to dogs, we tend to see the same benefits. Many pet parents have found that CBD oil or CBD dog treats have helped reduce their dog’s anxiety, including separation anxiety. Consistent use of CBD also has been shown to help reduce pain and inflammation from arthritis, relieve joint pain and alleviate allergies. In some cases, CBD can alleviate symptoms caused by medication or serious illnesses, such as cancer or cancer treatments.
As a fun side note, the hemp plant potentially could be one of the most useful plants on earth. Aside from the potential health benefits of hemp-derived CBD, hemp fibers are much stronger and durable than cotton fibers and hemp is a far more eco-friendly crop to grow than cotton. Hemp can be used to create textiles and paper and many other products.
Our CBD Dog Treats
At Naked Dog Bistro, we sell non-CBD homemade dog treats as well as CBD dog treats. Most of our CBD dog treats are made at our bakery using our own brand of CBD oil that we formulate in-house. Our treats are created using natural, healthy ingredients including CBD isolate, oat flour, natural peanut butter, bacon, coconut oil and egg.
We have CBD treats for small and large dogs. Our CBD dog treats for small dogs contain 1 mg of CBD per treat, while our large breed CBD dog treats contain 3 mg per treat. These can be used to alleviate allergies, anxiety, arthritis, depression, joint and mobility pain, inflammation and other serious conditions.
Our CBD oil is another option to consider. Our Organic CBD Oil in “pawscription” strength can be a great option for dogs with cancer, chronic pain or epilepsy. Each dropper contains 6 mg of CBD and can be taken every 12 hours. We also have CBD tincture sprays, and each pump contains 2 mg of CBD.
The spray and drops can be placed on a treat or on your dog’s food or just taken orally as is. In general, it’s best to start out with smaller doses and determine if your dog seems happier or more comfortable before increasing the dosage.
Our CBD tinctures also are human-grade, so if you’ve been feeling a bit anxious lately (aren’t we all) or perhaps suffer from arthritis or pain, our doggie CBD may work for human companions, as well, but we do sell CBD for people on our website. As a dog bakery and bistro, we don’t just focus on CBD dog treats. We have an assortment of healthy, homemade dog treats that we create each day in-house. We use the finest organic ingredients and our treats never contain preservatives, artificial colors, grain or gluten.

We home bake everything from cookies to doggie donuts to dog sushi. Our dog French fries are always a hit and our cupcakes are a perfect treat for a special occasion.
