At Naked Dog Bistro, we create a wide variety of homemade dog treats as well as fresh dog food. One of our most popular offerings is our line of CBD dog treats, which can be a good option for dogs with many common issues such as anxiety or joint pain. If you’ve been searching the internet for CBD treats or “dog bakery near me,” read on and you’ll discover a few helpful facts about our CBD dog treats and the benefits of CBD for dogs.

1. Our CBD Dog Treats Won’t Get Your Dog “High”

Our CBD dog treats are infused with 100% pure CBD isolate, which contains .3% or less of THC, which is the chemical that produces the “high” in cannabis. This trace amount is not enough to affect your dog (or humans). Both THC and CBD are psychoactive, but THC is an intoxicant that produces feelings of euphoria, while CBD is not an intoxicant.

While CBD won’t create that “high” feeling either in dogs or humans, it can have a positive effect on the brain. CBD has been shown to prevent or lessen the severity of seizures, for instance, and CBD also has been shown to be an effective anxiety remedy. We often recommend that doggie parents try our CBD dog oil or CBD dog treats if they have an anxious pooch or if their furry friend has a seizure disorder.

2. We Make Our Own CBD

While there are many excellent CBD products out there, we decided to do the research and formulate our own CBD for dogs. Our CBD oil and CBD dog treats are homemade, and this allows us to be sure exactly what goes into these products, which we call our CBD “dogibles.”

Because we control production carefully, we know precisely how much CBD is found in each individual treat. For our organic small breed CBD treats, each biscuit contains 1 mg of CBD. With the large breed treats, there is 3 mg of CBD per treat.

We also have three CBD oil options. Our large breed organic CBD oil contains 4 mg of CBD per pump. Our small breed version contains 2 mg per pump. Our “Pawscription”-strength CBD oil contains 6 mg of CBD per dropper.

3. Our Dogs Treats Include Whole Ingredients

At Naked Dog Bistro, we are committed to creating the most wholesome organic dog food and treats that we can, and this includes our CBD dog treats. In addition to the CBD isolate in these treats, the only other ingredients are oat flour, peanut butter, bacon, coconut oil and egg. That’s it. We don’t add preservatives, artificial flavors or colors or any chemical with a name you can’t even pronounce.

We are committed to providing dogs with pure, natural, “naked” treats and food. While we encourage humans to eat as much whole food as possible, we believe that this is especially true for our furry companions. These smaller creatures simply shouldn’t be exposed to artificial ingredients and our treats are also grain-free and gluten-free. While not all dogs have issues with gluten or grain, some do, so we keep those elements out of our fresh dog food and treats. Our oils (also gluten and grain-free) contain 100% pure CBD isolate as well as chamomile essential oil, sweet orange essential oil, coconut oil and vegetable glycerin.

4. CBD May Help Ease Joint Pain

As our dogs age, they have the same issues with joint pain and arthritis as their human companions, and CBD has been shown to reduce the discomfort caused by these conditions. Keep in mind, CBD is not a cure for joint pain or arthritis, it’s simply useful to relieve pain which also can improve mobility. Typically, CBD is most effective when you provide consistent treatment, such as providing a CBD treat twice daily or perhaps administering oil once or twice daily.

5. CBD May Alleviate Anxiety

While there haven’t been studies on whether or not CBD reduces anxiety in dogs, there have been some studies with humans. These studies suggest that CBD can help humans with social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and even post-traumatic stress disorder. While more studies (in both humans and their animal companions) need to be undertaken, we find that many of our dog customers have found consistent use of CBD to help with separation anxiety and general anxiety.

Of course, if you do have an anxious pup, there are a few other options to consider trying, especially if your dog suffers from anxiety issues. If you are planning to leave the house, for instance, schedule a nice long walk before leaving, as this exercise can relax and tire your dog, which means they might be more likely to sleep than fret during your absence. Keep a radio or TV on during your absence as a bit of noise distraction, and during times when loud noises (such as fireworks) are likely, you could try an option such as a weighted vest, which helps reduce anxiety in some dogs.

6. CBD May Help With Digestive Issues

There have been many studies that highlight the effectiveness of CBD as an anti-nausea remedy. If you have a dog prone to nausea or perhaps taking medication that causes nausea, CBD could be a good treatment for this issue. There also is some evidence to suggest that CBD can help improve gut health and digestion, which is a problem common to dogs and people alike. It also can stimulate the appetite, which can be a good thing for dogs with certain conditions, such as cancer, as treatments can cause appetite suppression and nausea.

7. CBD Dosages Depend On Several Factors

In general, the amount of CBD that you give to your dog depends on their weight, but sometimes you might adjust the amount slightly based upon the dog’s energy level. A highly active, energetic pooch might need a bit more CBD to account for their faster metabolism.

When it comes to dosing with our CBD dog treats, dosing depends on the product and your dog’s weight. For instance, with the large breed CBD dog biscuits, we recommend feeding one dog treat per 30 pounds of your dog’s body weight per day. Each treat has 3 mg of CBD. So, if your dog weighs 60 pounds, feed them two treats per day. With the small breed biscuits, you’d feed one treat per day based upon 10 pounds of body weight as each treat contains 1 mg of CBD.

Of course, you can always start with a smaller dose and gradually increase the number of dog treats you provide. CBD does make some dogs a bit drowsy, and there’s always the chance that CBD oil or a CBD treat could cause stomach upset, which basically could occur with just about any treat you provide your pet. Most dogs seem to tolerate CBD very well, so it’s not likely that your dog will have any issues, but it’s also possible that a smaller dose will work well to alleviate problems and they might not need the full recommended dose.
